There are 21 workshop topics in the FCCB curriculum. Visit the Topics page to view all workshop titles and descriptions.
Most workshops are 5 hours long and can be presented as a one-day, 5.5-hour workshop (includes 30-minute break), OR two 2.5-hour workshops, OR five 1-hour workshops. Workshops that are 10 or 15 hours long can be broken up following the model for 5-hour workshops.
The FCCB workshops are intended for licensed and license-exempt child care providers, family, friend, and neighbor providers, and other providers who care for mixed-aged groups of children. Workshop content is centered on children birth to age 5. Workshops do not fulfill pre-licensure requirements and do not provide ECE units.
We allow a maximum of 20 and a minimum of 6 participants per workshop. Please contact us if you think you will have difficulty filling the minimum six spots so that we can work together to address enrollment challenges.
FCCB workshops are now available in person as well as online via Zoom. You can select which format you prefer when requesting your workshop. If you select in-person, you will provide the workshop space. If selecting Zoom, the instructor will send the Zoom link to registrants approximately one week prior to the workshop.
FCCB is funded by the California Department of Social Services. FCCB workshops are available at no cost and must be provided with no charge to registrants to attend.
Requests for workshops are accepted from family child care associations, resource and referral agencies, county offices, local county education agencies, and other organizations that coordinate training for licensed family child care providers and other providers caring for children in mixed-age groups.
If you are unclear on the process or are a new host agency, please contact us.
At this time FCCB is at capacity and has paused direct-service workshop requests for the 2022-23 year.
When requests re-open, the following process is used:
Complete the online Workshop Request Form and submit this form electronically by selecting the Submit button at the end of the form.
After we received your online request, an FCCB team member will contact you to confirm or revise the schedule you have requested.
Please note: Although we will do our best to fulfill all requests, we are a statewide training provider and it is our intention to provide all counties the opportunity to experience FCCB workshops. Requests that exceed our contractual agreement with the California Department of Social Services may be waitlisted and provided when space allows.
To increase accessibility to FCCB workshops, we will be offering facilitator training in 2022. Facilitator training will be available at no cost. More information is coming soon.
When FCCB staff have confirmed your agency workshop schedule, a flyer will be emailed to you with a link to register on Eventbrite. Please verify all of the information and let us know promptly if there are any changes to be made. You are responsible for reproducing and mailing or emailing the flyers to your participants to market the workshops in your area.
We understand some agencies prefer to use a different mode for participant registration. If you choose to conduct enrollment outside of Eventbrite, you are responsible for adding all participants to the California Early Care and Education Workforce Registry immediately following your workshop.
