There are 20 workshop topics in the FCCB curriculum. Visit the Topics page to view all workshop titles and descriptions.
Most workshops include five hours of content and may be offered as one 5.5-hour session (with a 30-minute break), two 2.5-hour sessions, or five 1-hour sessions. Ten-hour workshops can be split using the same format options.
It is strongly recommended that virtual workshops be split into multiple sessions over several days to support interactivity and keep participants engaged.
The FCCB workshops are intended for licensed and license-exempt home-based child care providers; family, friend, and neighbor providers; and other providers who care for children in mixed-age groups. Workshop content is centered on children birth to age 5. Workshops do not fulfill pre-licensure requirements and do not provide ECE units.
We allow a maximum of 20 and a minimum of six participants per workshop. Please contact us if you think you will have difficulty filling the minimum six spots so that we can work together to address enrollment challenges.
FCCB workshops are now available in person as well as online via Zoom. You can select which format you prefer when requesting your workshop. If you select in-person, you will provide the workshop space. If selecting Zoom, the instructor will send the Zoom link to registrants approximately one week prior to the workshop.
FCCB is funded by the California Department of Social Services. FCCB workshops are available at no cost and must be provided with no charge to registrants to attend.
Requests for workshops are accepted from family child care associations, resource and referral agencies, county offices, local county education agencies, and other organizations that coordinate training for licensed family child care providers and other providers caring for children in mixed-age groups.
If you are unclear on the process or are a new host agency, please contact us.
Once FCCB staff confirm your agency’s workshop schedule, we will email you a flyer for each selected workshop. Each flyer will include a registration link and QR code for participants. Please review all information and let us know right away if any updates are needed. Your agency is responsible for reproducing and distributing the flyers (by mail and/or email) to recruit participants for workshops in your area.
