Partnering with Parents Training Description:
This Family Child Care at Its Best workshop provides an opportunity to learn skills that maximize providers’ ability to establish healthy communication and trust with parents and other caring adults in the lives of children.
About the ToPF event:
We are excited to expand the reach of the Family Child Care at Its Best curriculum by training Partner Facilitators to offer FCCB workshops for their communities. This course is limited to those who have completed the Intro to FCCB for Partner Facilitators course.
This 15-hour hybrid 5-week course will provide the foundational knowledge for facilitating the FCCB Partnering with Parents workshop. Learners will complete a self-paced online module in Canvas, observe a FCCB workshop, then meet for a live Zoom session to practice facilitating the content.
Please review the dates and times below carefully to ensure you are available to attend. You must complete the Canvas work and attend all online synchronous sessions to successfully complete this course. Make-up sessions will not be available.

Setting the Stage for Social Competence Workshop Description:
This Family Child Care at Its Best workshop explores a preventative approach to challenging behavior and ways to play activities that promote pro-social skills. Specific strategies are shared for using the environment and adult-child interaction to facilitate friendship and build community.

Training of Partner Facilitators (ToPF) Child Observation Course
Child Observation Training Description:
This course addresses the continuum of informal and formal observation. Participants will learn to critically analyze assessment tools and explore ways to use their observations to support children, families, and program development. Issues of bias will be addressed in relation to the role of the observer. Observation will be considered as part of a responsive process as well as a quality improvement tool. Topics include: observation techniques, making good use of observation results, issues of cultural, linguistic, and developmental appropriateness in assessment. The Center for Excellence in Child Development supports a holistic approach to preparing children for school, recognizing that young children learn through play and through relationships with caring adults.
