Serving Children with Disabilities or Delays and their Families (Spanish) Training Description:
All children deserve the opportunity to participate in family child care. Yet providers are faced with special considerations and challenges, depending upon the needs of each child. This advanced session allows an opportunity to discuss how providers can include children with special needs in their program. As a result of this class, providers will learn the “keys” to giving a child the best start possible, regardless of the child’s abilities.
Topics include: reasons for concern of developmental risks and delays, how families deal with grief and loss, helping families link to appropriate services, creating an atmosphere of acceptance in your program.
About the ToPF event:
We are excited to expand the reach of the Family Child Care at Its Best curriculum by training Partner Facilitators to offer FCCB workshops for their communities. This course is limited to those who have completed the Intro to FCCB for Partner Facilitators course.
This 15-hour hybrid 5-week course will provide the foundational knowledge for facilitating the FCCB Serving Children with Disabilities or Delays and their Families (Spanish) workshop. Learners will complete a self-paced online module in Canvas, observe a FCCB workshop, then meet for a live Zoom session to practice facilitating the content.
Please review the dates and times below carefully to ensure you are available to attend. You must complete the Canvas work and attend all online synchronous sessions to successfully complete this course. Make-up sessions will not be available.
The 5-week course will cover 5 hours of asynchronous work completed on Canvas and 10 hours of synchronous online training, across three dates:
- Week 1: Complete Canvas pre-work in preparation for the FCCB Topic Observation.
- Week 2: Observation of 2.5-hour FCCB virtual workshop session and 30-minute debrief.
- Wednesday, May 6, 2026, 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. (Day 1 Workshop session)
- Week 3: Observation of 2.5-hour FCCB virtual workshop session and 30-minute debrief.
- Wednesday, May 13, 2026, 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. (Day 2 Workshop session)
- Week 4: Complete Canvas pre-work for the Facilitation Practice. (Self-paced, asynchronous work)
- Week 5: Facilitation demonstration in a 4-hour virtual workshop session.
- Tuesday, May 26, 2026, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
After successfully completing this course, you will be eligible to offer this workshop topic as a FCCB Partner Facilitator free of charge to participants.
Those who successfully complete the ToPF course will receive authorization and access to the full curriculum to facilitate the topic FCCB Serving Children with Disabilities or Delays and their Families (Spanish).
